Hi, I'm Bethany!
I've been into stories and documenting them as long as I can remember. I was that kid making home videos, writing in my journal every day for years, and playing with the old family camera. It's in my DNA.
I've been photographing weddings since 2014!! I learned from second shooting and assisting other photographers, and then launched Chara Photography in 2016!! In the last decade, I've photographed 100+ weddings (I've lost track at this point!) traveled to 20 countries, lived abroad, fallen in love, and most recently started my own family!

I got married and planned my very own DIY campground wedding in 2024 (grew my own flowers, made my cake, even sewed my wedding dress kinda DIY!!) Needless to say I LOVE weddings and being creative in any way I can!! I get how stressful it can be, booking all your vendors, trying to piece together a timeline, trying to plan the perfect day, SO MUCH GOES INTO A WEDDING!!

I get asked if my name is Chara quite a bit. To clear things up nope. Chara is the greek word for "Joy."
When I thought about what I wanted my photography to emulate and how I want to approach couples weddings days; Joy kept coming up. It is my desire to create photos that capture those sweet moments of emotions that last a lifetime. Not just a pretty picture, but a piece of art that documents LIFE.
(And Joy i's actually my middle name!)
So what does "Chara" mean?

“Bethany made us feel SO comfortable on our wedding day. Like it was obvious that she would get the job done, (being professional, great quality shots and edits, etc..like duh look at her work!!) But greater than her professional abilities, was her ability to bring such PEACE to my day. Bethany brings with her a grounded presence that is contagious to the people around her. With ease, I watched her graciously communicate with everyone from the videographer, to the caterer, to my guests. It is rare today to find an artist that is not only excellent with their craft, but is excellent with people. Due to the hustle of the day, it is impossible to remember each moment in its entirety, but Bethany did more than just capture the most intimate and emotional photos of our day: she created an experience that makes us look back at our wedding and feel all the feels over and over again.
